Happy Halloween and Firsts Days of School

The kids had a great Halloween this year! Keegan was a Dalmation. He chose this so that "you will know how very truly much I really need a dog." He has also asked for dog toys for Christmas... alas, Mom and Dad say we have to wait until Avy is three.

Avelyn has started school at Community Montessori School, where Keegan attends. She began yesterday, and is doing great so far! Pictures to come. So far, she has washed lots of dishes, done lots of various scrubbing, worked with puzzles, helped to set the table, and eaten lots of food. She has been happy go to both days so far, and equally happy to see me when I pick them up! I am lucky to be able to leave work early every day now to pick them both up and spend the afternoons with them!

A couple of weeks ago we had a birthday party to celebrate Avelyn's first birthday with some of our family and friends. We celebrated at a nearby park and had a spring themed birthday. The kids had a great time playing at the playscape, planting flowers to take home, and eating cake!

A Fun Day at Kiddie Acres

We recently had a great day at "Kiddie Acres", a dated but fun and friendly amusement area with rides for small children in Austin. Here are some of our pics from the outing:

Happy First Birthday Avy!

Avelyn turned one year old today, and we celebrated as a family. We'll have a couple of Avy's close friends and family over next week for her birthday party. Needless to say, we cannot believe how fast our year has flown by... just look at how much she has grown!

We are so blessed to have her... and we are having so much fun watching her explore her world.

Her favorite gift was, no question, her new water bottle. We made the mistake of letting her open it first... and she pretty much "drank" through the rest of the party. (Hopefully she will not be repeating this experience until she is at least in her 20s!)

Avy cleaning her face... with the cupcake wrapper. She looks a little uncertain of the effectiveness of this in my opinion.

Keegan and I made ladybug cupcakes (his idea) to for her first "cake" and she opened some gifts.

My favorite gift this year was a placemat that I made for her in which I stitched a spot for her plate, glass, spoon, and fork. I'm sure you are all shocked that I can do this... I guarantee you that I was more surprised!

We had a wonderful Easter celebration with Will's parents, Audrey's parents and grandparents, and Darren and Christian. This was an especially special Easter because it was Audrey's grandmother's 82nd birthday, and Avelyn's first Easter!

Emmi joined us for a night out last week, and we decided to paint Easter Eggs while she was here. Or so I thought. She had actually decided to paint herself, which Keegan thought was a great idea! Needless to say, they had a blast... and the a bath!

Mama Can Camp

We went camping a couple of weeks ago near Smithville at Buescher State Park and had a wonderful time. Apparently, I've earned a reputation as a bit of a Prima Donna who can't rough it... guess I'll just have to prove them wrong!

Trip to Junction

We recently took a trip with Jimmy, Laura, Anna, and Megan to visit Mark and J'Lynn's beautiful vacation house near Junction. We had a fabulous trip. Here are some of our favorite pictures.

I recently worked on a fundraiser for Keegan's Montessori school (Community Montessori School) where I created "Montessori At Home baskets" with a starter kit for parents who are interested in using some Montessori (or just cool hands-on) principles with their children at home. Here are a couple of pictures. I am thinking about doing this in my spare time as my own business...so I guess this is my first trial to see if anyone who is searching online is interested! We're Back!

So, after many months of being first without a working camera, then without a camera cord, then without the new camera which I left in Bastrop, I am finally up and running! Below are random pictures from the last few months:

Avelyn's Baptism

On Sunday, October 26th, we celebrated Avelyn's baptism with many friends and family. We especially appreciate everyone who traveled to join us for this very special occasion.

In some of the pictures, you'll notice that Avelyn is wearing a bonnet during the baptism. This is an Irish tradition that we have done with each of the kids. They have this bonnet as a symbol of their baptism (although it would really be a Christening in the Irish Catholic tradition), and take this bonnet with them on their wedding day as a gift to their spouse. (I'm secretly hoping it will be Avelyn's "something old"... we'll see!) Of course, this assumes a lot about the kids future, but at least they will have this special memoir of their baptism.

Happy Halloween

We celebrated Halloween with Donna Laura, Anna, and Megan this year. We started at Grandma and Grandpa O'Neills, attended a Halloween party and finished with Trick or Treating in G-town. We had a great time, and Keegan actually won the "Best All-Around Costume" trophy for his costume at the party. This week, he got his first real trophy from the honor.

Super Baby (Avelyn)

We have had a crazy few weeks since our return from Midland. Avelyn had a bout with Pertussis (which she kindly shared with Keegan and I), Keegan returned to Judith's class at Community Montessori school in Georgetown, and we are trying to sell our house!

Avelyn training for the 2012 London Olympics... We're not sure what event, but really, have you ever seen a 5 1/2 month old lift herself up on her fingers and toes and hold it? Didn't think so.
(If you are noticing the red bumps, don't worry. She had an allergic reaction to something Mommy ate last week, but she is doing great.)

We are hoping to buy a beautiful old home in "Old Town" Georgetown, right across the street from Southwestern. We have a contract on it, so now we (just) have to sell or lease our house. Keegan is enjoying his return to school, and tells us of giving lessons to the "new friends". (These are the younger children who are in their first year of the three-year primary circuit. Keegan is in his second.) Will post the year's first-day-of-school picture soon.

Avelyn has started solids! Mommy did her best to wait until she was fully six months old, but Avelyn is just determined to eat with everyone else, so we decided to try a bit of cereal. She had her first meal last night, Sept 26th, and loved it.

We are so excited to announce the much anticipated arrival of Megan Elise Wright, born August 12th, 4:52 p.m., 8 lbs 4 oz, 19 3/4 inches long. Congratulations to Jimmy, Laura, and Big Sister Anna. We spent a wonderful week "helping" the Wrights, amid the wonderful chaos of four awesome kids. Here are our pics from the week.

We just returned from a great trip to California to visit the Hoover side of the family. Keegan especially enjoyed getting to play with his cousins- Alex (5) and Gabe (2). Will and I enjoyed getting to see Shawna (13, and also our cousin), as well as Dave and Regina, and Aunt Chris and Uncle Bob. He were surprised late in the trip when Will's brother James, and cousin Ian, arrived back from two month long journey to all places foreign, and we got to hang out with them.

So, we are having technical difficulties in the O'Neill house. First the wireless, then the cable, now the camera cord. (You get the idea... there are a myriad of reasons that its been 7 weeks since I last posted. However, today I have something better- professional pics!!

As many of you know, we have a wonderful family photographer, Rachel Parkhurst of Parkhurst Studioa. You can check out her other work at www.rachelparkhurst.com. We love her, and highly recommend her for all your photography needs. She did the collage above, which will be on display in our dining room very soon!

Over the last couple of months, we have spent a weekend in Midland (getting ready for our new goddaughter, due on August 16th!), a week in Corpus Christi, and a week in California. As soon as I manage to get these pictures off of our camera, I will post them here!

6 Weeks Old

Avelyn is six weeks old today, and time is really flying. Below are several of our most recent pictures:

Adventures with Four

We have had a busy couple of weeks. Uncle James went back to California, and Auntie Holly arrived from Oregon. Grambe (Jana) spent a week with us, and then Grandma (Lynn) took her turn last week. Thanks so much to Grambe, Grandma, and Auntie for all of their help!

For Mother's Day, we went to Grambe and Big Daddy's house in Bastrop where Auntie Holly fixed us a fabulous lunch. We enjoyed spending the day with Audrey's family in the house she grew up in one last time before her parents sell it and build a house to retire in (someday!)

Finally, we want to wish our beautiful goddaughter/ godsister, Anna Grace (or Anna Banana) a very happy first birthday. We look forward to celebrating with her soon! Family and Friends Visit, and Avelyn Sleeps

Avelyn is already growing, and she is 11 days old today. So far, its been pretty smooth, and we are all enjoying lots of time cuddling with her. We've been on a few outings, but are hanging out at home most of the time.

Not surprisingly, among Avelyn's favorite activities is sleeping (second only to nursing). You can see from the pictures that Daddy and Keegan like to join her.

Note: No, we don't actually let them sleep together in Keegan's bed.. this is staged especially for the pictures, although they were both completely out and very comfortable together.

We're home! Avelyn received a clean bill of health (yea!) and got to go home from the hospital on Saturday afternoon. Since then, we've seen lots of family and friends, and spent a lot of time together adjusting to having a baby sister.

Avelyn is doing great. She spends most of her time eating and sleeping (all is right in her world) and Keegan spends a lot of time waiting for her to wake up. Keegan has also enjoyed the influx of "big brother gifts". Mommy and Daddy have enjoyed watching them together and spending lots of time holding Avelyn.

Today we had our first family outing: to the pediatrician (and Sonic, of course.) No pics, but see the one of Avelyn in her car seat on the way home from the hospital. Mommy thinks she is entirely to little to be riding around, so we'll probably stick around the house for the next week or so.

Monday at home:Thanks so much to Debra, Rachel, Asher and Chiara for the Moses Basket. We tried it out today, and as you can see, Avelyn was very comfortable snuggled inside while we grabbed a quick snack together.

Welcome to Avelyn Christine O'Neill!

We are so excited to finally have Avelyn Christine O'Neill join our family.
Avelyn was born Thursday, April 17, 2008 at 3:21 p.m. She weighed 6lbs, 14 ozs and was 19 3/4 in long. She is doing great, and we are hoping to bring her home from the hospital on Saturday.

Below are some pictures from her first day! So far, she seems to love eating, sleeping, and cuddling with mom and dad. ( No surprises there!)

Merry Christmas

We are so excited to FINALLY announce that in April or May (we are hoping for April), we will welcome a baby Girl into our family! We feel truly blessed that this daughter and sister will join our family, and look forward to 2008 with great anticipation!

We spent a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend with the Wright family, as is our tradition. For our trip this year, we traveled to Ruidoso, New Mexico, where Laura's parents were generous to let us stay in their vacation home. (Thank you Mark and J'Lynn!) We had tons of fun, celebrated Thanksgiving with loved ones, and played in the snow! Here are some pictures:

Back in Midland, we had more snow, so we built a cowboy snowman.

Well, we've finally joined all our friends in creating an easy way for you to keep track of what is going on in our lives, and most importantly, posting pictures of Keegan (and the new baby soon!) We hope that you enjoy. Below are a couple of pictures from the fall.
